Letting Go & Beginning
August 1, 2012
I often feel overwhelmed with the creative ideas and how-to’s and DIY’s and a hundred other things I’d like to accomplish with my kids. Pinterest is both amazing and discouraging for me. Until recently, I had a list a mile long of things I’d love to accomplish. I struggled to let go of what my mind told me I needed to do.
And then this summer happened.
I took a step back and looked at our little family. I thought back to life before the internet and wondered what did I do as a child? What memories have stuck with me the most? So we just began from there. We spent endless days at the pool, helped Nana garden, made our own ice cream, and simply enjoyed – each other. Sure we did a few fun pinterest projects, but I gave myself permission to do away with the mile-long list, and it has been a great and most cherished gift.
So from here? We will take fall with the same breath. Stay true to our roots, enjoy simple activities, and allow fun projects to sneak in when we can, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Know that if you’re feeling similarly to step back, take a deep breath, listen to your heart, and just… begin.
