Patio Drinks, Late Night Dinners, and Impromptu Bar-B-Ques. . . The Tastes of Summer

What would you like to remember from the summer of 2012? Or, more creatively, what would you or your grandkids find interesting as they leafed through a book you created years earlier documenting what you ate or with whom you spent your summer evenings of 2012?

One of our customers puts a California flag up on her gate on certain summer nights -  a sign to stop in.  The back patio is open.  Sangria with summer fruits and sweet tea mojitos are set out.  Each time they’ve gathered, she’s pulled out her phone to capture quick pictures of the friends and neighbors who have stopped by to visit.  Now, her photos of friends, drinks and a lot of summer sunsets are documented in a “My Life” book, providing a history of how they dressed, what they ate and how the world looked in the summer of 2012 with friends and neighbors who were there to share those summer moments.

So pull out your phone at the farmer’s market.  Take a photo sitting on the porch of a late dinner or an impromptu barbeque with friends.  Document those sun kissed tomatoes from your garden.  Capture someone you love with a piece of fresh cherry pie.  Photograph all the things you love to eat and drink in the summer and the people you’re eating and drinking them with and transfer them to a book you can keep forever.  Nothing is too small or trivial to document!

How about it?  What’s in your cooler?  What do you wait all year to eat or drink in the summer months?  Tradition?  Summer family recipe?  Tell us what it is and we’ll send you a little something to help you document it.

Happy Summering,

the Paper Coterie

We spend as much time as we can at my in- law’s lake house. The first time we go up is Memorial Day weekend. Our lake bag comes out of storage and spends the summer on our hope chest waiting all week to be filled with our lake essentials. We tote that same bag to the beach, on the boat, over to Auntie’s house full of sunscreen, dry towels and trail mix. The bag goes back into storage at the end of September when we take our last trip to the lake and go apple and pumpkin picking.

WATERMELON!! Watermelon juice runs through my veins, I’m absolutely convinced. We have had watermelon in our fridge at all times, since they arrived in the stores. We have it for dinner, poolside, or like last Saturday – in big slices while sitting on a blanket in swimsuits. My daughter and nieces loved getting all sticky and then jumping in the pool. We also loves our lemonade and Kerr jars!!

We love to drink southern tea in the summer time. We love to eat watermelon, juicy peaches, grapes, blueberries and strawberries. Summer tradition is going on a trip that fun for the entire family and enjoying life to the fullest.

With two small boys (4mos & 21mos) every moment is a photo opp. We’ve especially loved watching our older son, Barrett, fall more and more in love with his new best friend. It’s been so fun watching their relationship cultivate. I am one blessed momma
