The Bucket List Challenge
With the lazy days of summer slowly coming to a close, it’s time to start making your fall 2012 bucket list. Is it family outings, baking, visits to orchards or pumpkin patches? What is on your absolute don’t miss list for fall? Take the challenge. Sign up and tell us you’re in before Friday, August 17th. Why? Two reasons. You’ll have an amazing box of memories to open and remember next year AND sending you something awesome to say ‘good on ya for taking on a challenge’ is on the top of our fall bucket list.
Hope you’ll join us,
the Paper Coterie
PS. To find more from Angie Warren, you’ll find her here. Hope she inspires you, too!
I’m in! I wasn’t sure where to tell you I’m in, but I’m in! I love these types of challenges! Let me know if I need to do anything else!
I would love a memory box. WIthout it I truly forget what we did. Something great for the kids to have to look through. How wonderful to be intentional by having a “bucket list!” I would call it my box of blessings!
I’ll take ya upon this challenge! I am trying to be more deliberate in spending my time….first on our bucket list – meet our new boy any day now! Second – go see King Tut!
Pumpkin patch with the kids and pictures in the leaves are 2 of my favorite fall thing to do.
I want to spend more time doing little things with my youngest son while my oldest starts 1st grade this year. It’s my youngest turn to have mommy all to himself
I’m so excited to take my kids to a local orchard we just found out about that has kids days every Saturday all fall long. Start with apple picking, end with pumpkin picking, and lots of fun in between!
I want to take a family portrait in the fall leaves.
Ok I’m in for the challenge… This should be like a kick in the butt to get me going… I need something..
I’m up for the challenge! My son starts preschool, so creating some great fall memories are on the bucket list! Can’t wait to take lots of pictures!
So excited for fall! Top 2 on my bucket list: 1- Fall leaf peeping with the fam.
2-Lots of trips to the pumpkin patch !
I accept the challenge. I plan to take my son apple picking at the local orchard and make home made appple butter with him this fall.
I’m in! I recently became vegan, and have started losing weight. I want to reach my goal weight by October (only a handful of pounds to go, nothing too dramatic!) and spend more time baking!!
We will be married 15 years this fall and it is time for a family picture in the fall to celebrate all of the blessings we have…each other and our kids
I am so in! I want to take my son to the fair, get family portraits taken, drive around and look at Christmas lights, east pumpkin pie, the list goes on and on!
My ABC book from Paper Coterie is by far the cutest photo book I have ever made. The Alphabet you have is soooo cute. I could easily find pictures for each letter. Love it!!!
Fall family picture either at the beach or the pumpkin patch.
For sure pick apples and pumpkins! Plus meet my new baby boy!
Task 1: Look up Giant Pumpkin Pictures~ The biggest pukmpin I found weighed 1810.5 lbs from pukmpinnook.com. I was having a difficult time finding height, width and circumference measurements. I realize now that it is because the flat, deformed shape. I also found two other methods for measuring on pukmpinnook.com. They go over the top; one from stem to blossom and the other from side to side. Some average pukmpins weights range from 5 20 lbs depending on the specific type.~ A typical pukmpin’s weight ranges from 10 20 lbs depending on the specific type. This weight is about 0.8% of the giant weight of 1800lbs.Task 2: Listen to a story about Giant Pumpkins~ Giant pukmpin’s dimensions are not mathematically similar to regular-sized pukmpins because the force of the weight causes cells in that area to grow more quickly. I think pukmpins evolve to handle the weight.Task 3: Look at the Hard Math~ The plant/pukmpin growth depends on physical and chemical states throughout the entire growth of the pukmpin. This study focuses on two main aspects of pukmpin growth. One is the actual growth and the other is the elasticity of the pukmpin “shell”. I found it interesting because the pukmpins cannot have any tears or rips when going to competition.~ I also found that they examined three dimensional characteristics using a Lattice Spring Method. I am not sure what that method involves, but it sounds like a good reason to teach x, y, z coordinate plane.~ Even though I didn’t fully understand the equations given, I noticed that one for elasticity of the pukmpin shell was a piece-wise function.~ The graphs of time vs. weight of pukmpins increase quickly, and then level out at a certain weight. Then I looked at the time vs. size and they were similar.~ I learned that larger fruits have longer durations of cell division. This makes sense because the longer cells have to divide, the bigger the fruit will get.
Visit the pumpkin farm for tour and let the kids pick their own pumpkins, family pics with fall colors, and go horseback riding!
I’m in! Can’t wait to go apple picking
Although I we don’t experience much of the fall changes in Florida, I plan to visit pumpkin patches, back fresh pies and drive north to see the autumn weather changes and photographing my children in the beautiful colors of natures change
Bake pies
I want to take the challenge to record all our summer bucket list fun:)
I’m in! On my bucket list for this fall is hosting my first Thanksgiving at my house, having my kids help with some fall baking (cookies and pumpkin pie), and I would love to take my kids up north to see the leaves on the trees change colors!
I’m hoping to visit my mom when my jury duty commitment is over.
I love this idea! We’ve always done a summer bucket list but I never thought about doing one in the fall. Thanks for the inspiration!
I really want to have a nice fall getaway with my husband without the kids and enjoy the fall folliage!!!

first on my bucket list is always decorating for Fall. The smells and decorations make it my favorite season. This year I am hoping, since I recently moved, to actually have Trick or Treaters for the first time in about 6 years
i’m new to your site and i look foward to making many projects with you, this is a great idea and i may very well make it my first project.
My fall family challenge is to be more intentional with our time. It’s my favorite time of year that I want to make sure we’re not so busy with silly stuff that we can’t enjoy all the fun things like hayrides, pumpkin patches and beautiful leaves. Since my kids are growing up so fast we’ll want to get pictures of all of it!
Great idea! On my list is to plant bulbs for the spring, carve pumpkins, make the kids Halloween costumes and eat cider donughts.

Taking my kiddos apple picking and pumpkin picking are definitely on our list. I also want to mess up Daddy’s leaf piles! I really just want to spend quality time with my family. <3
I’m in. I hope to make it to the zoo and to the orchard to pick apples with my husband and little one! I would absolutely love to travel to the ocean and spend time at the beach, but I don’t think we’ll make it this year. Maybe next year!
My Fall bucket list: Would love to stage an outdoor photo backdrop for a family session for us, create memories in pumpkin patches, christmas tree farms with my 15 month old, and celebrate our wedding anniversary.
I’m up for the challenge
There are many things that I want to do with my grandchildren this fall: go get pumpkins & go on a hayride, take them on vacation in Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head, take them to Strasburg to ride the train, …. the list goes on. A bucket list for myself includes powerwashing & painting all of my plastic patio furniture, cleaning out my attic & basement, having a yard sale, ….
We always go to a fall festival at a local farm/petting farm. I can’t wait. Every year I take a picture of the girls next to a huge scarecrow they have standing at the gate. It’s great to see how they are getting bigger.Last year we discovered a place where we can stuff our own scarecrows. We had a blast and plan to return again. My older daughter’s birthday is in the fall so we always have a family party outside on my parents farm. We love our fall family traditions!
Im in! On my list….first: taking my son
to Legoland. Second: going to key West with my love and watching one of those amazing sunsets!
I absolutely love the idea of making a Fall bucket list. Fall is my Favorite season. There are a million things I love about it. I’ve already found some recipes to bake with my son. Pumpkin and Apple picking are musts for us every year. My son absolutely loves it just like me. We’ll definitely make some crafts and visit the local cider mill, and so much more. I’m so excited and can’t wait.

Be cleared medically so I can begin running, pick apples, carve pumpkins, jump in the leaves and finish organizing my house!
Thank you for inspiring me!
Soooo in! Baking, apple picking and drinking pumpkin spice lattes are our must do!
I’m in! Two reasons I will have an amazing box of memories is because my goal is to be adventurous by doing things I have never did before and to start thinking outside of the box by trying new things.
I’m in! My daughter loves looking at pics we take of her during different outings and we love listening to her stories about each thing we do. This is such a fun thing to do as a family!
I’m in! Preschool, new schedules, adventures and activities… Can’t wait!
I’m in!
“I’m in” for the bucket list challenge. Sounds fun.
Count me in!
I’m in! What a fun way to make sure I do some of the things I’d like in the fall before I get swept up in life!
I am in all the way!!! Lots of things on my list!!
Family pictures, going to pumpkin patch, riding horses together
This is such a great idea and I’m totally in!! I’ll be thinking of even more fall events the family can do this year. I already posted some of our ongoing traditions for fall but this is a great opportunity to try new things as well. I’ll have to check out some other comments to get some new ideas too. Thanks! And I’d love a “freebie” as an extra bonus.
I’m in! First drop in the bucket to take my young kids to visit their great-grandparents in Oregon.
Fall is our favorite time of year! We never miss getting our pumpkins at the pumpkin patch and taking pictures of the messy jackolantern creating.
The pumpkin patch is a MUST-DO! Our son will be 1-1/2 this fall and it will be so much fun!
I cant wait to take my grandson to the pumpkin patch
I’m in! With the arrival of a new baby and a big move next spring. My bucket list includes making sure my oldest son and I see and do all that our city and state have to offer while we still can!
I’m in. Pumpkin patch with my kids. Attempting to make pumpkin bread for the first time. Raking leaves and having the kids run through them.
I would love to join the challenge! We get so stuck in our routine that it would be fun to be challenged to get out and do things more often as a family
I’m in – would like an updated family portrait this fall!
I’m in! I can’t wait to do all kinds of fun things with my little boy this fall now that he’s old enough to participate.
I’m in! I’ve been blogging about my summer bucket list at my100daysofsummer.wordpress.com and I’ve already decided to make another list for the fall/winter!
I’m in!! Thanks!!! : )
I have never heard of doing a Bucket List seasonally and I LOVE the idea! Each season brings with it so many different foods, weather and ideas, I am certainly up for the challenge. Living in Australia we are coming into Spring soon…
I’d love a memory box! How fun is this…:)
I’m in! My fall bucket list includes the pumpkin patch with my son, a few zoo trips, Renaissance Festival, and getting everything ready for the arrival of our daughter in November!! Definitely going to be busy.
I’m in! I really want to go pumpkin picking and make a fall themed dinner with a pumpkin dessert!
I’m in! Here’s what I’m thinking so far;
~Crunch in the leaves
~Visit the farm stand and try one of every apple. Eat them slowly and appreciate the texture
~Live in the autumnal moment, no worrying about the winter weather to come. It will come all too soon.
~Enjoy the start of a new school season and build off of the excitement and enthusiasm. Feel the beauty of the clean slate.
~Get ready to visit the beach after everyone has had their vacation, we are ready for ours. We couldn’t go last year, so this vacation will be extra special.
~Making time for cider and doughnuts, new recipes to try.
~Pumpkins to be carved. Perhaps in time for the holiday or knowing us, shortly after. Hey, it just extends the holiday.
~Scarves, scarves and more scarves, A new one each day for a week.
~Visit a new restaurant and try out one of their fall favorites, savor the flavors, let them melt in your mouth.
~Socks. I’m so looking forward to pulling out some of my favorite patterns to wear.
~Snuggling under a blanket with a movie and popcorn to share.
I”ll miss Summer, but Fall can certainly be fabulous!
Signed up, I’m in!
Totally going to have some family portraits done. My oldest daughter turns 4 in October, going to head to the farm with her and a bunch of friends for cake, apple cider and fall fun!
Pumpkin patch!!!! Would love the list of ideas! Always looking for fun stuff to do with my babys!
Ok! It said I was “entered” but it doesn’t show were to put your fall bucket list. So here is the top 3 things!
1. PUMPKIN PATCH!!
2. Apple Picking (if I can find an orchard!)
3. Nature walk when the trees have all turned their gorgeous colors!
Everything’s bigger in Texas! Not quiet. Texas’ lersagt pumpkin on record weighed 657 pounds (lbs.) in Mount Vernon, an Atlantic Giant (AG) grown by Jessica Smith in 2006. Pumpkins have better luck in the northern states of the US. But, even bigger than Chris Stevens’ 1810.5 lb. AG is that of this year’s 2011 lersagt pumpkin ever, an 1818.5 pounder raised by Jim and Kelley Bryson from Ormstown, Quebec. O’ Canada! Hoorah! Google changes its page image frequently to keep up with the times, prominent stories, and of course whichever holiday season. Googles Halloween home page is quiet a treat this 2011. Six 1000-lb AGs from Half Moon Bay, California sit atop six hay bails for real. This is not the usual Google illustration, but a lapse-time movie of the Google illustration staff pumpkin carvers in action to represent the six letters of g-o-o-g-l-e. Following the short film are several Halloween links including the Story behind Google’s 1000-lb pumpkins published by the Christian Science Monitor (CSM), presumably a reliable sounding source. Some were more than half a ton! It is interesting to note after doing the conversion that the previously mentioned Canadian AG is almost 91% of a full ton! The CSM goes on to point out the lersagt of Google’s fruits was for the letter L at 1298 lbs. and that upon carving the walls of the fruits were estimated at six inches thick.Comparing record pumpkins from the pumpkinnook.com and backyardgardener.com it is apparent that vegetables and fruits entered in contests are increasing in weight yearly. I created a spreadsheet with linear graph to post as soon as possible. Questions can be raised about expectations from this data such as, when will pumpkins meet the full-ton mark? As it stands, presumably the full-ton pumpkin will be achieved by 2014 or 2015.Considering typical sized pumpkins of the standard orange variety, they might be classified accordingly: small (2 to 5 lbs.), medium (8 to 15 lbs.), large (15 to 25 lbs.), and jumbo (50 to 100 lbs.) The varieties include names such as the small Baby Bears or New England Pies, the medium Autumn Golds or Bushkins, the large Aspens or Big Autumns, and the jumbo AGs (not grown for contest) or Big Moons. All of these and other kinds of typical pumpkins are of the usual spherical shape compared to the contested giants which are flat and pancake in form. The mathematical idea of similarity is not applicable because the giants have a different shape because of their increased size. The internal forces and stresses of gravity on the contest grown giants morphs the pumpkins for survival purposes. Cell division is increased based on these stresses in different places making for different rates of growth around the pumpkin. Information from both NPR’s Science Friday including a couple of videos on AGs’ growth and David Hu’s research from Georgia Tech point out the 50% height-to-width ratio of the flattened AGs. The AGs grown for contest are actually not to be eaten. Side note, they are usually grown with additives not for our kitchens and only for carving purposes or even making canoes for pumpkin boat races (truly). Hu notes pumpkins to be one of the fastest growing organisms in the world at a rate of over 1000-lbs. within four months, nearly 50-lbs. per day. AGs are recognized as 100 times the weight of an average pumpkin. Interestingly, Hu turns to the 1936 study by Edmund Sinnott which sheds light about pumpkin morphing based on weight. Hu uses Sinnott’s shape index as the ratio of length to width. Texas’ climate must yield to bigger things produced in foreign lands.
To spend as much time with my grandsons as possible!!
we began to visit the orchards when the kids were small -now oldest in her teens and baby is three. the kids were looking forward to it last year and made us realize the impact on them. we cherish these days and hope they do too………by the way: I’M IN ON 8.15.12
On my Fall Bucket list is driving around town and seeing all the different color leaves before they fall off the trees.
I want to join in! Sounds like fun!
Sounds like a fun challenge. On my list so far is be more spontaneous and just get up and go for a last minute day trip, play in the leaves and create/make our own Halloween costumes.
I’m absolutely in! I just bought the book “Elevate the Everyday” and am excited to implement some of her ideas into this project!
We’re in. Have had a blast doing most of our summer list and I loves me some fall!
