tiny reminder
I am not sure if it is just this stage of motherhood, but every time I see the word “hero”, I automatically think superhero. Of course hero can mean so many things, but right now my brain goes to the men and ladies in capes, so bare with me…
A few months ago I received a happy little package. When I undid the pretty rainbow tape and got to the contents of the package, there it was. A tiny plastic man with a red cape. I immediately smiled. Inside was a sweet encouraging note that stated this little man was just for me. Not for my kids (who would of course love it), but for me. A tiny super hero (ok yes he is actually nacho libre the infamous mexican wrestler…. but again, bare with me here…) This particular friend (one I have never met in person) purchased a mass of these tiny little men in capes, each one a unique color, and mailing them out into the universe to ladies all over the globe. I was one of those very lucky ladies. As women we do such much every.single.day. We juggle schedules, home, work, passion, creativity, laundry and littles, just to name a few, and all with NO cape! Some days it feel superhuman, right? And then some days we WISH we WERE superhuman. Those days when we feel exhausted and drained. This little plastic guy was sent with love to remind me that i can kick butt every single day. That i am super, even when I don’t feel so super. It was a simple gesture that meant a GREAT deal to me. He is still all mine. I take him along on days when I need to feel some extra power. When he is not joining me on some daring adventure, I tuck him in my top dresser drawer so I can see him each day when I open it. Every time it makes me smile. It is the kind of gift you wish you had thought of yourself. Isn’t it amazing how someone I have yet to meet in “real life” knew exactly that I needed that little man in a cape? How did she know? That matters not. He is mine. He is tiny, but BIG in my heart.
Do you have any tokens than remind you to be your own hero now and then?
I hope you do.
