Kim Carnes, Barbra Streisand, and Jose Feliciano have all serenaded us with the haunting song lyrics of “Love comes from the most unexpected places.” But in the early morning hours at the Bradley home, it is my voice that can be heard singing those lovely words with a giggle and a smile… to a mouse.
A Mouse? Yes, a mouse. It has been surprise for me, too. I never thought I would enjoy sweet Randall as much as I do but there you go. I am smitten.
Why? It could be the way he does pull-ups from his water bottle or nibbles on my hair that makes me smile. Or possibly, how he watches intently as I make my morning coffee and doesn’t care when I sing off-key. But I have a feeling it has much more to do with the connection I feel for his owner, my eldest son, who has gone away to college.
This furry friend is filling a hole in my heart. Love unexpected? Absolutely. And completely appreciated.
